Collection
Overview
The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum primarily collects materials related to the Prince Asaka Residence and the Art Deco style.
Our collection originates from the furniture and artworks from the Prince Asaka Residence era.
In addition, the museum has been actively collecting materials relating to the artists involved in the interior decoration of the museum and the International Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts (commonly known as the Art Deco Exposition) held in Paris in 1925.
From the perspective of decorative arts, we have formed our collection through a wide range of works and materials, primarily focusing on the 1920s and 1930s when the Art Deco style flourished, and extending our scope to contemporary pieces.
Together with the conservation and research of the Prince Asaka Residence, we will continue to work to further enhance the collection.
These pages introduce the materials collected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum.
