Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum has partnered with Hotel Gajoen Tokyo to offer discounted admission

Our ongoing exhibition, “Looking at Architecture 2023: Reminiscence of a House,” has partnered with Hotel Gajoen Tokyo’s exhibition, “Taisho Romanticism and Hyakudan Kaidan: The World of the Great Japanese Writers,” to offer discounted admission to one of the exhibitions. The discount at the latter is available from Saturday, April 1 to Sunday, June 4, 2023.
Discount panels will be set up inside the venues. Please take a photo of the panel at the first exhibition you visit. Show the photo at the ticket counter for the second exhibition you visit to purchase your discounted ticket.

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum will participate in Art Week Tokyo (2022/11/3-6)

TOKYO’S CITYWIDE INITIATIVE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART

Art Week Tokyo is an annual showcase of the creativity and diversity of contemporary art in Tokyo, connecting over 50 of the city’s leading museums, galleries, and art spaces through four days of coordinated programming. Garden will be able to reopen to the public from Wednesday, 23 March.

Under the severe circumstance of Covid-19 epidemic, in the garden of the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum,
YOU MAY NOT ALLOW:
1. TO WALK AROUND WITHOUT WEARING THE MASK. And the mask should be worn in proper manner, all the time.
2. TO SIT ON THE GRASS and GATHER UNDER THE TREES. Under same condition you should also avoid being in crowded place, which also makes the risk of inflection higher.

Requesting Admission Tickets and Reserving a Date for Your Visit

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, visitors are currently required to make a reservation for a specific date for entry to Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum.

[Ticket information]
(1) “Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Botanical Arts of Flowers Queen Charlotte and the Enlightenment” exhibition
・During the timed ticket sale period, each day (from the museum’s opening to closing hours) will be divided into eight slots.
・One hundred tickets will be issued for each slot. Ticket sales will end when the set quantity is reached.
・The tickets are for a specific date and time only.
・Please enter the museum within a hours of the specified time (Ex: visitors with tickets for the 10 a.m. slot must enter by 11 a.m.).
・There are no particular restrictions on length of stay after admission into the museum. The tickets are also valid for entry into the garden.
・Last admission for the 5 p.m. slot is 5:30 p.m. (the museum closes at 6 p.m.).
・Depending on congestion, visitors may need to wait to enter even if they have tickets.

(2)Ticket for the garden only
・The tickets are not time-specific.
・A hundred tickets will be issued for each day. Ticket sales will end when the set quantity is reached.
・The tickets are for a specific date only.
・There are no particular restrictions on length of stay after admission into the garden.
・Last admission is 5:30 p.m. (the garden closes at 6 p.m.).

[Visitors with invitation ticket, annual passport, or garden passport]
・Advance reservations are not required if you already have an invitation ticket, annual passport, and/or garden passport or Tokyo Museum grutto pass 2021.

[Visitors with Physical Disability Certificate or other certificates]
・No advance reservations are needed for visitors (and up to two accompanying persons) with a Physical Disability Certificate, Intellectual Disability Certificate, Rehabilitation Certificate, Mental Disability Certificate, and Atomic Bomb Survivor’s Certificate. Please inform the ticket booth on the day of your visit.

[elementary and younger students and for middle school students]
・No advance reservations are needed for visitors who are elementary and younger students.

[Miscellaneous]
・Visitors are asked for their continued cooperation with temperature checks and hand sanitization when entering the museum.
・Visitors found to have a fever will not be admitted into the museum, even if they have reserved priority tickets.

Museum Reopening from 1 June (Tue.) & Sale of Timed and Untimed Tickets

The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum will reopen from Tuesday, 1 June. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance for admission between Tuesday, 1 June and Sunday, 20 June to the “Looking at Architecture 2021: The Lustrous Colors of Art Deco” exhibition and the garden. During this period, please reserve and purchase tickets ahead of your visit.

・Tickets can be purchased for visits from Tuesday, 1 June through Sunday, 13 June for the “Looking at Architecture 2021: The Lustrous Colors of Art Deco” exhibition and through Sunday, 20 June for the garden.
・Tickets can be purchased from e+ (eplus ticket).

【Announcement of Extension of Temporary Closing】

As part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the temporary closing period has been extended to May 31(Mon.).

Notice of cancellation of exhibitions and other events to prevent transmission of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

As part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum will cancel museum-organized exhibitions and other events between April 25 (Sun) and May 11 (Tue),2021.

Other museum activities may be subject to change at a later date in response to future circumstances. Any further announcements will be made via our website and official Twitter account.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience to visitors, and kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation regarding this matter.

Rules during the cherry blossom viewing period

  2. TO SIT ON THE GRASS and GATHER UNDER THE cherry blossom TREES. Under same condition you should also avoid being in crowded place, which also makes the risk of inflection higher.

This rule will be valid during the cherry blossom viewing period (15th of March until its end)

Requests to visitors:(Please be sure to read)

・Please refrain from visiting the museum if you have a fever above 37.5°C or symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, or headache.
・Please refrain from visiting the museum if you have traveled within the past two weeks to countries or regions where infections are continuing to increase.
・Please practice good etiquette by wearing a mask, avoiding coughing near others, and washing and disinfecting your hands. Visitors without masks will kindly be refused entry.
・Temperatures will be taken at the entrance to the museum. Visitors who are found to have a fever of 37.5°C or higher will be refused entry.
・Please try to stay at least 2 meters away from other visitors inside the museum.
・Please refrain from talking in exhibition rooms.
・Please do not touch the exhibits, display cases, or devices that are not in use.
・Please take note of the date and time of your visit.

Measures taken by our museum to prevent the spread of infection:
・Staff members conduct daily temperature checks and confirm that they are in good health.
・All staff members wear masks.
・Acrylic panels installed at counters.
・Disinfectant placed at the entrance to the museum.
・Thorough cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation inside the building.
・Restriction of the number of visitors in order to prevent overcrowding (please check the museum website and SNS accounts for information about admission restrictions).
・Signs advising people not to gather together in the one place.
・Thorough disinfection of rental items such as wheelchairs.
・Prohibition of touching exhibits that can ordinarily be touched by hand.
・Rearrangement of seats in lobbies and other areas to avoid face-to-face eating, drinking and conversation.
・Suspension of use of hand dryers in restrooms.
・Coordination with the public health center if visitors or staff members develop symptoms.

Announcement of change of venue and cancellation of “Noh theater in the garden

[Notice: change of venue (October 11) and event cancellation (October 12)] “Noh theater in the garden -Experience Japanese Beauty in an Urban Beauty-” on October 11 and 12

As we annouced the change of venue yesterday on October 9 ( Wed), the performance “Noh theater in the garden -Experience Japanese Beauty in an Urban Forest-”scheduled on October 11 (Fri) and 12 (Sat) will be changed as below.

*October 11 (Fri) The performance will take place at Kita Noh Theatre (4-6-9 Kamiosaki, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, the nearest station: Meguro station [JR Yamanote Line, Tokyu Meguro Line]) on October 11. We kindly ask for your understanding, and are looking forward to welcoming you.

*October 12 (Sat) Due to approaching typhoon, the performance “Noh Theater in the garden -Experience Japanese Beauty in an Urban Forest-” scheduled on Saturday 12th October has been canceled.(No rescheduled performance) We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and kindly ask for your understanding.

Summer Night Museum (evening opening hours)

During the period from July 20 through August 31, the museum will stay open until 21:00 every Friday evening. There will also be special features at restaurants and shops. Admission is free for students after 5:00 PM, while regular or senior (65 and over) visitors may enjoy the reduced group price.
