「ノルマンディー」は1935年に就航した、フレンチ・ラインの豪華客船である。フランスのル・アーヴルからイギリスのサウサンプトンを経由し、ニューヨークまでを結んだ。船の内装には、ルネ・ラリック、ジャン・デュナン、ジャン・デュパらアール・デコの優れた作家が携わり、豪華な装飾が施されたことから「海に浮かぶヴェルサイユ」と称された。本資料はノルマンディーの乗客に配布されたパンフレットで、中央に大きく描かれた船内の見取り図は、画家アルバート・セビル（1874–1953）によるもの。同船は第二次世界大戦が始まる1939年まで航海したが、1942年の改装中に火災で転覆し、1946年に解体された。

The Normandie was a luxury liner of the French Line. It entered service in 1935 and connected Le Havre, France, to New York via Southampton, England. Renowned Art Deco artists such as René Lalique, Jean Dunand, and Jean Dupas were involved in the ship’s interior, which was called a “floating Versailles” due to its extravagant decorations. This brochure was distributed to passengers and in the center shows a cut-away diagram of the ship’s interior drawn by the painter Albert Sébille (1874–1953). The ship sailed until the outbreak of World War II in 1939. It capsized during a fire while being refitted in 1942 and was scrapped in 1946.
