本資料は、朝香宮鳩彦王が1925年に南仏カップ・マルタンからパリまで自動車旅行をした際に撮影した写真で構成されたアルバム。鳩彦王は外国製のカメラを所有していたほど写真好きの皇族として知られ、とりわけ欧州視察時に現地で撮影された写真は数千カットに及ぶ。現地での動向や訪問先などを知ることができるこれらの写真は、主たる撮影者である鳩彦王をはじめ、允子妃や御用掛を務めた相馬子爵などによってアルバムに貼られ、時にはコメントが添えられて大切に保管されてきた。しかし皇籍離脱後に徐々に散逸し、現存するものは限られている。

This album contains photographs taken by Prince Yasuhiko of Asaka on a motor trip from Cap-Martin in the South of France to Paris in 1925. Prince Yasuhiko was known to be particularly fond of photography among the members of the Imperial Family, even owning his own foreign-made camera. He took thousands of photographs during his tours around Europe. These photographs provide insight into his activities and travel overseas, and were carefully stored, pasted into albums, and sometimes annotated by Prince Yasuhiko, the primary photographer, as well as by Princess Nobuko and Viscount Sōma, who accompanied the prince in an official capacity. However, these photos were gradually scattered after the family lost their imperial status after the war, and only a limited number remain today.
