Guided Tour in English
We are offering a guided tour in English to introduce the highlights of the museum with a focus on the current exhibitions, “Art Deco in Residence: Looking at Architecture 2015” and “Art Deco Collectors.” Alice Gordenker, arts writer for The Japan Times, will conduct the tour, which is free with regular museum admission and will last approximately an hour. While sharing the fascinating history of the former Prince Asaka Residence and its place in both French and Japanese Art Deco style, she will also point out highlights of the current exhibitions, including period furniture on loan from the Ise Foundation; classic Art Deco posters from the Ruki Matsumoto Collection and a large number of works by glass artist René Lalique from the collection of Seiichiro Omura. No reservations are necessary; please gather in the great hall on the first floor of the Prince Asaka Residence five minutes before the tour begins.
Friday Sept. 4, 2015 at 3 pm.
