These chairs were designed by decorative artist André Groult. On the backrests, Marie Laurencin painted bouquets of flowers in light colors. The chairs were produced by Adolphe Chanaux, a renowned French luxury furniture maker. A collaborative effort between several artists, these pieces make abundant use of what were precious materials for the time, such as ebony for the wood and tortoiseshell for the backrest. Originally, the seats were upholstered in thin satin, but weavers at Beauvais later created new floral seat covers.
