Descriptions

A set of 39 bound booklets containing receipts for items purchased by Prince and Princess Asaka during their stay in Paris from 1922 to 1925. This valuable collection provides insight into the couple’s life in Europe, from records of purchases including an automobile, a phonograph, camera equipment, and riding whips, to membership fees for tennis and golf clubs, records of meals taken during trips, and even descriptions of tailored clothing. The documents also shed light on their relationships, such as interactions with the sculptor Ivan-Léon-Alexandre Blanchot and purchases at René Lalique’s store, who would play roles in the later construction of the Prince Asaka Residence.
