G(ALL)ERY Day

Stress-free programs that cater to all visitors,
including those with disabilities and those with babies

The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone can feel at ease and enjoy their visit.

Leisurely Art Encounters
A chance for all visitors, with and without disabilities, to enjoy the Museum at their own pace

On these days, visitors who may not feel at ease in busy museums can enjoy the art in a less crowded setting. The program will offer an environment in which wheelchair users and people requiring care or assistance will also be able to feel safe and comfortable.

Dates

May 31, August 9, and November 8, 2023; March 13, 2024.

Time
10:00–18:00 (last admission 17:30)

Reserve Ticket for Your Visit here.

*No booking required for visitors who have a disability certificate or are eligible for other discounts. Please let us know at the ticket booth upon your arrival at the Museum.

Baby Hours Bring your baby to the Museum!

This program offers a chance for parents, carers, and guardians of babies to enjoy our exhibitions at ease. During Baby Hours, visitors will be able to bring baby strollers into the main building,* which normally does not allow the use of strollers inside.

*Please apply in advance if you wish to use a stroller inside the main building, as there will be a cap on the number of strollers allowed per time slot.

Dates

May 24 and November 22, 2023; March 27, 2024.

*In addition to these, we plan to hold another “Baby Day” this year on a day when the Museum is closed to the public.

Time
10:00–14:00

*No booking required for visitors who have a disability certificate or are eligible for other discounts. Please let us know at the ticket booth upon your arrival at the Museum.

While the Museum’s buildings are open to everyone on these days, there will be special measures in place – such as a limit on the number of admissions – so that all visitors may enjoy the exhibitions without stress. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

The “G(ALL)ERY Day” programs will take these measures in particular:

Limit admissions to accommodate those who may feel less comfortable in crowded spaces (Leisurely Art Encounters)

Limit admissions to allow ample room for visitors with baby strollers (Baby Hours)

Station staff at certain locations to assist visitors with limited mobility, such as by setting up ramps

Do our best to ensure an environment in which everyone can enjoy the exhibition in the same space.

As the Museum’s main building is a designated “Important Cultural Property” that preserves most of its original architecture, there are many areas with narrow entrances or with steps. Please note that some larger mobility devices (such as stretcher chairs) and larger strollers will not be able to access all areas. We also ask visitors with mobility scooters for their cooperation in switching to one of our rental wheelchairs when entering the Museum.

The “G(ALL)ERY Day” programs will also offer guided art tours (Japanese only), conducted by Art Communicators.
