Tickets

There are two types of tickets: one for the exhibition viewing and another for garden admission only. A ticket for admission to the exhibition also admits you to the garden.
Exhibition tickets may be purchased online in advance.
Reservations and ticket sales page open one month prior to the start of each exhibition.
Same-day tickets may also be purchased at the Box Office at the Main Gate. Please note that the number of same-day tickets are limited, you may not be able to purchase the tickets even if you visit the museum.

Since the number of visitors is limited compared to regular days on G(ALL)ERY Day, visitors can enjoy the exhibitions in a relaxed environment. Please check on “G(ALL)ERY Day” page for details.

Reserve Ticket for Your Visit

  • During the timed ticket sale period, each day (from the museum’s opening to closing hours) will be divided into eight slots.
  • The tickets are for a specific date and time only.
  • Please enter the museum within a hours of the specified time (Ex: visitors with tickets for the 10AM slot must enter by 11AM).
  • There are no particular restrictions on length of stay after admission into the museum. The tickets are also valid for entry into the garden.
  • Last admission for the 5PM slot is 5:30PM. (the museum closes at 6PM).
  • Depending on congestion, visitors may need to wait to enter even if they have tickets.
  • A ticket for admission to the exhibition also admits you to the garden.

Garden Admission

Admission to the garden only is available-there’s no need to book.

Free or Discounted Admission

  • Admission is free for holders of a Shintai Shogaisha Techo (certificate of physical disability), Ai no Techo or Ryoiku Techo (certificate of intellectual disability), Seishin Shogaisha Hoken Fukushi Techo (certificate of mental disability), or Hibakusha Kenko Techo (atomic bomb survivor’s health handbook), along with up to 2 caregivers (MIRAIRO ID accepted). Please inform the staff at the main gate.
  • Admission is free for seniors (65 and over) on the third Wednesday of each month. Please show your ID to the Box Office staff.
  • Admission is free for middle school students and younger.
  • 20% discount for exhibition and free for garden admission apply for “TTM Annual Passport” holders.
  • 20% discount for exhibition and free for garden admission apply for “TTM Garden Passport” holders.
  • 20% discount for exhibition and garden admission apply for “Tomonokai” members or annual passport holders of facilities operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture.
  • Free of garden admission and exhibition admission “Looking at Architecture”, 20% discounts for “Thematic Exhibitions” apply for “TOKYO museum gurutto PASS” holders. (admission for Collage Students, high school students and Seniors[65 and over] is not discounted).
  • 20% discount for exhibition and garden admission apply for panel picture holder taken at the “Institute of Nature Study.”
  • 20% discount for exhibition and garden admission apply for “Tokyo Travel Guide” holders.
  • Free of garden admission and exhibition adomission “Looking at Architecture”, 20% discounts for “Thematic Exhibitions” for the students, faculty and staff member of the “Partner Ship School”.
  • Other various membership benefits holders.
  • The third Saturday of each month and the following Sunday are Family Days, on which admission to the garden is half-off for Tokyo residents (2 people) accompanying children under 18 years of age. ※Guardians are required to bring proof of residence in Tokyo.
  • 20% discount for garden admission apply for “TOKYO Futari Marriage Support Passport” holders.

*Please note that discounts are not available for online ticket purchases.
If you wish to receive a discount, please purchase a same-day ticket at the Box Office.
However, same-day tickets are limited and may sell out before your visit.


Group Reservations

20% discount for exhibition and garden admission will apply for group of 20 or more paying visitors.

School Group Visits (Free Admission)

For groups of elementary, junior high, and high school students from Tokyo accompanied by teachers.

Additional Information(No advance reservation required)

The following individuals are not required to make reservations in advance, on your visit day. Please inform the staff.

  1. Those who visit only Garden(the Garden Passport holders, Tokyo Museum gurutto PASS holders included).
  2. Holders of invitation tickets, invitation envelopes, or annual passports.
  3. Holders of ”Tokyo Museum gurutto PASS” who visit the museum during the exhibition period of “Looking at Architecture”.
  4. Holders of a Shintai Shogaisha Techo (certificate of physical disability), Ai no Techo or Ryoiku Techo (certificate of intellectual disability), Seishin Shogaisha Hoken Fukushi Techo (certificate of mental disability), or Hibakusha Kenko Techo (atomic bomb survivor’s health handbook), along with up to 2 caregivers (MIRAIRO ID accepted)
