Creating Landscapes – Wandering around the Garden

Events

creating landscapes- wandering around the garden

This exhibition focuses on these flowers, which are an essential element of the museum’s identity, and presents an installation by ikebana artist Kuniko Donen (1944-).

In this exhibition, this space is conceived as a single “vessel”. Donen’s “flower”—created alongside her ikebana practice—are collaged throughout the space to form an immersive “landscape” that evokes a universe unfolding from flowers.

The title word shoyo (逍遥) refers to a leisurely, aimless stroll—walking without a fixed purpose and enjoying for spontaneous and serendipitous encounters along the way. We hope visitors will enjoy encountering the ephemeral beauty of flowers as they wander from this space to the museum, through the garden, and into the quiet garden within the heart.
