Posters are a treasure trove of ideas for designers. Designers of all ages and nationalities have showed great ingenuity in using posters to clarify and express their ideas and messages. Something that played the significant role is “Typography” which is the design of letter forms. Letters are an important factor in design influencing the overall impression of the poster as well as being a tool for accurately delivering the information. In that context, Typography practically plays a major role in poster design.
The exhibition displayed Typographic posters, expressions with letter forms, specially selected among 3,200 works of The Takeo Poster Collection. In addition, sophisticated Typographic posters produced in postwar Japan were exhibited; about 110 works in total.
